Reforestation on the Blanco River 2017-2018

TreeFolks is looking for volunteers to plant trees this winter in areas along the Blanco River affected by the Memorial Day Weekend Floods of 2015. These events are part of Trees for the Blanco, which accelerates recovery of the Blanco River ecosystem by providing comprehensive reforestation services to landowners affected by the flooding. This is a multi-year reforestation campaign to plant a diversity of native species along the Blanco in Hays County. Volunteers will plant seedlings this winter which provide important environmental benefits to the Hays County community and will help reduce damage from future flood events.

Planting locations will be on privately owned property in Hays County, thus addresses will not be posted on the website.  Instead, TreeFolks will send a reminder a few days before the event with further details.  We plant trees rain or shine, but will notify you prior to the event if there is a cancellation.  Because of the rough terrain and river, we ask that all children be accompanied by adults and closely monitored during volunteer events.
