San Marcos - Standard Core Water Quality Citizen Scientist Training

NOTE: You must be at least 11 years of age to attend this training. Any minors (under the age of 18) planning on attending this training must have a parent present with them at the training.

Standard Core monitoring involves performing tests for parameters such as conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, total depth, water and air temperature, and water transparency using a chemical Standard Core kit. In addition to these parameters, Standard Core citizen scientists also conduct various field observations. Please fill out the form here to register ASAP due to limited seating.

Due to COVID-19 we will be taking the following precautions:

  • Maximum capacity of 10 individual

  • Training will be held outdoors

  • Masks must be worn

  • Social distance must be maintained as much as possible

  • Individuals who are experiencing any COVID symptoms are asked to stay home

  • Each trainee will have a bag with all the supplies they need so no supplies are shared

  • Trainees are strongly encouraged to bring hand sanitizer
