33rd Annual San Marcos River Clean Up

This year’s 33rd Annual Great Texas River Clean-up was this past Saturday, March 3. Volunteers helped pick up trash along the entire length of the San Marcos River, with various crews handling different clean-up sites.

One of the clean-up stations along the San Marcos River included the recently gifted property surrounding Willow Springs Creek, located on the south side of the San Marcos River between IH-35 and Cape Rd. This land has accumulated years of trash brought in by floods and trespassers, which made for a challenging but rewarding clean up.

This was the biggest River Clean-up San Marcos has had yet, with over 14 clean-up sites total, and over 800 volunteers. Be on the lookout for a press release regarding the final volunteer count, as well as the landfill and recycling weights. The City of San Marcos has brought back their fall clean up, so be on the lookout for another clean-up coming later this year.
